Description

The Falls Handicap Inventory (FHI) is a simple questionnaire for measuring the impact of falling on a person's life. This can be used for initial assessment and to monitor a patient over time to determine the effectiveness of interventions for reducing fall risk. The authors are from Whittington Hospital in London and the University of Nijmegen in The Netherlands.

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 72

• The higher the score the greater the level of disability.

 

Performance:

• Cronbach's alpha coefficient 0.82

• Test retest reliability showed an r value of 0.96.

• Correlates well with Katz's ADL.
