Rosen et al developed a shortened version of the 15-item International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) that contained 5 items, the IIEF-5. The items focus on erectile function and intercourse satisfaction. This was shown to be an excellent diagnostic test for erectile dysfunction.
The instrument consists of 5 questions related to erectile function over the preceding 4 weeks. These questions correspond to questions 15, 2, 4, 5 and 7 of the original International Index (see above).
The response to each question ranges from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent).

= SUM(points for the 5 questions)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 1
• maximum score: 25
• The higher the score, the better the erectile function.
• The weighted kappa for classifying patients correctly was 0.82
