A male with a systemic vasculitis may develop a pseudotumor of the testis due to an infarction. The diagnosis can be challenging if the patient is not known to have a vasculitis.
Conditions associated with vasculitis of the testicles:
(1) polyarteritis nodosa (PAN)
(2) rheumatoid vasculitis
(3) dermatomyositis
(4) Buerger’s disease
(5) Wegener’s vasculitis
(6) giant cell arteritis
Presentation:
(1) testicular pain
(2) testicular swelling and/or mass
(3) fever or other systemic findings
The patient may be initially diagnosed with:
(1) testicular cancer
(2) testicular infection
A patient with a suspected tumor may undergo a radical orchiectomy.
