Description

A patient with psoriasis may develop lesions at the site of a tattoo.

Mechanism: Koebner phenomenon (development of a lesion at the site of trauma)

Clinical features:

(1) The patient has a tattoo placed at a site of normal-appearing skin.

(2) A psoriatic plaque develops in the tattoo.

(3) Exclusion of other disorders that can be transmitted by an infected tattoo needle or allergic reaction to tattoo ink.

The appearance of the plaque may be the first sign of psoriasis.
