Burke et al reported a staging system for a patient with hilar cholangiocarcinoma. The authors are from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

The survival of hilar cholangiocarcinoma is impact by the status of the resection margin. A patient with a positive margin has a worse overall survival.
