Jarnagin et al reported a T-stage classification system for hilar cholangiocarcinoma. This can help to communicate the extent of the disease. The authors are from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

(1) extension into second-order biliary radicles

(2) portal vein involvement

(3) hepatic lobar atrophy
