Description

Synophrys (unibrow, monobrow) can occur in a number of conditions.


Nongenetic:

(1) drug-induced hypertrichosis

(2) praneoplastic hypertrichosis

 

Racial (associated with PAX3)

 

Genetic syndromes:

(1) Al Kaissi Syndrome

(2) basal cell nevus syndrome (Gorlin syndrome)

(3) Cornelia De Lange syndrome

(4) frontometaphyseal syndrome

(5) Frydman syndrome

(6) Hajdu Cheney

(7) Labard syndrome

(8) mucopolysaccharidoses type III (Sanfilippo syndrome)

(9) Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome

(10) Waardenburgh syndrome (with mutations in PAX3)

 

Autosomal disorders:

(1) 1p36 deletion syndrome

(2) deletion 3p syndrome

(3) duplication 3q syndrome

(4) partial Deletion of 4p (Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome)

(5) 9q34 microdeletion syndrome

(6) Patau syndrome (trisomy 13)

(7) partial trisomy chromosome 15
