Fungi can cause a variety of types of rhinosinusitis. These vary in their significance for the patient.

Parameters:

(1) tissue invasion

(2) tissue destruction

(3) allergy with eosinophils

The invasive type may be subdivided into:

(1) indolent

(2) slowly progressive

(3) fulminant, which is often associated with immunosuppression, immunodeficiency or diabetes.
