Reason and Diaz used a simple checklist to evaluate motion sickness symptoms. This combines both objective and subjective measures of the person's reaction.

(1) 7 symptoms, as assessed by the subject
(2) 2 clinical signs, as assessed by an observer
Symptoms:
(1) dizziness
(2) bodily warmth
(3) headache
(4) increased salivation
(5) stomach awareness
(6) nausea
(7) dry mouth
Signs:
(8) pallor
(9) cold sweating

= SUM(points for all 9 items)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 27
• The higher the score the more severe the motion sickness.
