Wong et al reported the Survival After ROSC in Cardiac Arrest (SARICA) Score for predicting survival after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) following an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The authors are from multiple institutions in Singapore.
Patient selection: out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with ROSC
Outcome: survival
Parameters:
(1) prehospital ROSC
(2) age of the patient in years
(3) initial rhythm

= SUM(points for all of the parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 10
• The higher the score the better the survival.
• The authors suggested using the entire range based on local conditions.
• A score >= 4 had the maximum Youden score, with >=5 and >= 6 close.
Performance:
• The area under the ROC curve is 0.87.
