Lawton et al reported a supplementary grading system to the Spetzler-Martin grading system for patients with a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM).

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 1

• maximum score: 5

• The score is the supplemental grade.

• The supplemental score can be added to the Spetzler-Martin score for a combined grade from 0 to 10. A combined grade <= 6 has an acceptably low surgical risk.
