The Standardization of Uveitis Nomenclature (SUN) Working Group reported criteria for the tubulointerstitial nephritis with uveitis syndrome (TINU).
Criteria for the tubulointerstitial nephritis with uveitis syndrome - all of the following:
(1) anterior uveitis with cells in the anterior chamber
(2) tubulointerstitial nephritis
(3) negative for syphilis and sarcoidosis
Vitritis, choroiditis or retinal vascular changes may be present.
Evidence of tubulointerstitial nephritis - one or both of the following:
(1) positive renal biopsy
(2) elevated urine beta-microglobulin with elevated serum creatinine and/or abnormal urinalysis
