The Standardization of Uveitis Nomenclature (SUN) Working Group reported criteria for punctate inner choroiditis.
Synonym: punctate inner choroidopathy
Punctate inner choroiditis is a posterior uveitis with small "punctate" lesions of the inner choroid and/or retinal pigment layer.
Criteria for punctate inner choroiditis - all of the following:
(1) multifocal choroidal inflammatory punctate lesions
(2) diamter of predominant lesions less than 250 µm
(3) involvement of the posterior pole with or without involvement of the mid-periphery
(4) absent to minimal inflammation in the anterior chamber
(5) absent to minimal inflammation in the vitreous
(6) absence of syphilis and sarcoidosis
