The Standardization of Uveitis Nomenclature (SUN) Working Group reported criteria for the diagnosis of anterior uveitis due to cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection.
Criteria for CMV anterior uveitis - all of the following:
(1) anterior uveitis
(2) absence of retinitis
(3) evidence of CMV in the eye
(4) exclusion of syphilis, sarcoidosis, HSV and VZV
where:
• Cells should be present in the anterior chamber. If anterior vitreous cells are present, then anterior chamber inflammation should be present.
