Description

Uveitis can occur in Behcet's disease. The Standardization of Uveitis Nomenclature (SUN) Working Group reported criteria for its diagnosis.


Criteria - all of the following:

(1) compatible uveitis syndrome (see below)

(2) diagnosis of Behcet disease using the International Study Group for Behcet disease criteria

(3) exclusion of both syphilis and sarcoidosis

 

Compatible uveitis syndromes - one of the following:

(1) anterior uveitis

(2) anterior and intermediate uveitis

(3) posterior uveitis with retinal vasculitis and/or focal retinal infiltrates ("white patches")

(4) panuveitis with retinal vasculitis and/or focal retinal infiltrates

 

Uveitis syndrome not compatible with Behcet disease:

(1) posterior uveitis with a choroiditis

(2) panuveitis with a choroiditis
