Summer Penile Syndrome from Hypersensitivity to Chigger Bites

Is it late spring or summer and has the patient been spending time outside?

Has the patient been using an insect repellant?

Has the patient spent time in an area with large number of insects?

Has there been a rapid onset of penile edema?

Is the penile skin pruritic?

Are small papules or bite marks on penile skin?

Are there insect bites elsewhere?

Are normal vital signs without signs of serious infection?

Does the patient have dysuria or altered urine stream?

Is there erythema of penile skin?

Is there another diagnosis that can explain findings better?
