The Bender grading scale can be used to evaluate a patient with subdural hematoma and can help guide management of the patient.

Fluctuation in symptoms is common.

 

The prognosis is good for Group 1 and usually Group 2. A deteriorating level of consciousness is a poor prognostic signs as is coma (Group 4).
