Description

Mocco et al developed the Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Prognosis Score to predict long-term outcome for patients prior to surgery. These can help to identify patients who may have a better outcome. The authors are from Columbia University in New York City.

Patient selection: cerebral aneurysm with subarachnoid hemorrhage and Hunt and Huss Grades IV and V (poor grade)

Outcome: modified Rankin disability score at 1 year after hemorrhage

Parameters:

(1) worst preoperative Hunt and Hess grade

(2) age in years

(3) serum glucose

(4) aneurysm diameter in mm

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 7

• The higher the score the worse the long-term outcome.
