Description

Rarely a glomerulonephritis may develop in a patient infected with Strongyloides stercoralis.


Clinical features:

(1) Strongyloides hyperinfection, typically in a patient who is immunosuppressed

(2) nephrotic syndrome

 

Types of glomerulonephritis:

(1) membranous

(2) membranoproliferative

(3) glomerulonephritis with minimal change

 

Other forms of renal disease may develop in patients with disseminated strongyloidiasis as a result of shock or medications.
