Description

A long neck wrapping can get caught in a rotating device, resulting in serious injury and death. The wrapping needs to go around the neck at least once to cause strangulation.


 

Types of injuries:

(1) compression of trachea with asphyxia

(2) compression of carotid arteries with stroke and coma

(3) fall injury if pulled from a seat, with potential for being dragged a distance

(3) saree (India)

(4) dopatta (Southeast Asia)

 

Device with a rotating part:

(1) rickshaw (foot or motorized)

(2) scooter or bicycle

(3) electric grinder or other motorized machine
