Possible origin of "stir": sturrabin or sturbin
Risk factors for mental deterioration:
(1) solitary confinement
(2) high stress (threats from other prisoners, other)
(3) pre-existing mental illness
(4) despair
(5) boredom and lack of adequate stimulation
(6) seasonal affective disorder
Clinical features:
(1) agitation
(2) irritability
(3) irrational behavior
(4) paranoia
(5) sleep disturbances
(6) anxiety or depression
(7) emotional distress
