I

unifocal or multifocal disease confined to globe

II

regional extra-ocular extension

III

distant metastases

IV

Description

Stage

occupying one quadrant or less of the retina

IA

occupying up to two quadrants of the retina

IB

occupying more than 50% of retinal surface

IC

with vitreous seeding

IIA

extending to optic nerve head

IIB

extending to choroid

IIC

extending to choroid and optic nerve head (IIB + IIC)

IID

extending to emissaries

IIE

extending beyond cut end of optic nerve (including subarachnoid space)

IIIA

extending through the sclera into orbital contents

IIIB

extending to the choroid and beyond cut end of optic nerve (including subarachnoid space, IIC+IIIA)

IIIC

extending beyond cut end of optic nerve (including subarachnoid space) and through the sclera into orbital contents (IIIA + IIIB)
