Description

Justice et al developed a staging system for patients with AIDS based on the physiologic defects manifested. The patient's stage correlated with survival over the following year.

Patients: HIV-positive patients with clinical AIDS

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 7

Limitations:

• With improved therapies the prognosis has improved since 1989, but the presence of these findings still indicate severe disease.
