Description

Duranceau and Jamieson staged the severity of gastroesophageal reflux by combining clinical and laboratory findings.

Parameters:

(1) endoscopic appearance

(2) histology of esophageal biopsies

(3) manometry

(4) pH monitoring (electrode placed 5 cm above lower esophageal sphincter and monitored for 24 hours)
