Description

A patient with Hodgkin's disease can be staged based on clinical extent, pathologic findings and symptoms.


Parameters:

(1) clinical stage

(2) pathologic stage

(3) B symptoms (unintended weight loss > 10% over 6 months, night sweats, unexplained fever > 38°C).

lymph node regions involved on both sides of the diaphragm AND spleen involved

IIIS

lymph node regions involved on both sides of the diaphragm AND spleen involved AND extralymphatic site

IIISE

diffuse or disseminated involvement of one or more extralymphatic organs or tissues

IV

 

Pathologic Stage

 

Presence of involvement in a tissue is indicated by "+" while absence is indicated by "-".

Symptoms

 

If any B symptoms are present, then the patient is designated B.
