Diffuse unilateral subacute neuroretinitis (DUSN) is caused by two unidentified species of nematodes. The ocular involvement has both an acute and chronic stage.

acute
visual loss, vitreitis, papillitis, clusters of multiple lesions in the outer retina
chronic
optic atrophy, narrowing of the retinal artery, diffuse pigment epithelial degeneration and abnormal electroretinogram
The retinal lesions in the acute phase are evanescent and grayish-white in color.
