Patient selection: axial spondyloarthritis
Recommendations:
(1) Engage in some form of physical activity every day.
(2) Perform mobility and muscle-strengthening exercises as recommended by physician.
(3) Perform deep-breathing exercises.
(4) Range-of-motion exercises may reduce back stiffness.
(5) Wear shoes with shock-absorbing heels.
(6) Select activities that are suitable for disease activity and restrictions.
Activities and situations to avoid:
(1) Avoid straining the neck and back.
(2) Avoid sports with a high risk of injury.
(3) Avoid prolonged stooping or bending.
(4) Avoid situations where there may be a risk of falls.
(5) Avoid becoming exhausted.
