Description

The Northeast Snowfall Impact Scale (NESIS) and Regional Snowfall Index (RSI) describe the impact of snowfall in a region of the United States.


Parameters:

(1) depth of snowfall vs historical records of snowfall

(2) area affected vs total area of region (how widespread)

(3) population affected vs total census population

The impact of a given amount of snow differs by region. A region with little snowfall may be impacted much more than a region with frequent snowfall.
