Chen et al reported the SLANT score to describe neurologic outcome following an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) with targeted temperature management (TTM). The authors are from Taipei Veterans General Hospital, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Kinmen Hospital.
SLANT is an acronymn for parameters (S from nonshockable, L for leukocyte count, A from Adrenaline, N from onlooker and T from time duration.
Patient selection: age >= 18 years of age, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management
Targeted temperature management involves maintaining body temperature at either 33°Ç or 36°C during the first 24 hours after the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).
Parameters:
(1) initial rhythm
(2) leukocyte count after targeted temperature management
(3) total adrenaline dose in mg
(4) onlooker CPR
(5) time duration of resuscitation in minutes
