Description

Facon et al reported a simplified frailty score that was used in the FIRST trial for newly diagnosed patients with multiple myeloma. The authors are from multiple institutions from around the world and members of the International Myelomas Working Group (IMWG).

Parameters:

where:

• The cut-off for the CCI seems to be set to be overly sensitive.

• The frailty of a patient with ECOG 3 or 4 would be greater than ECOG 2.

total score =

= SUM(points for all of the parameters)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 5

• A score >= 2 was designated frail.
