Sembill et al reported simplified Edinburgh criteria for the diagnosis of lobar intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) associated with cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) based on MRI findings. The authors are from University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and Shanghai Jiaotong University.
Exam: brain MRI with 3-dimensional reconstruction
Parameters from MRI exam:
(1) hematoma shape: regular (round or ellipsoid) or other (irregular or multilobular)
(2) subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)
(3) finger-like projections (FLP; longer than wide elongated extensions from the hematoma)
