Description

Human trafficking may involve transport by air. Certain findings may identify someone who is being trafficked.


Features of someone traveling by air who may be being trafficked:

(1) unable to provide details of destination, departure or flight information

(2) not allowed to speak for self but has someone speaking for them

(3) is not in control of identification documents

(4) does not have personal luggage

(5) is not dressed appropriately for travel or destination

(6) appears uncomfortable or afraid around companion

(7) has a one-way ticket purchased with cash

(8) nervous or avoids eye contact

(9) has inconsistencies in story

 

While some signs may be sensitive they may not be specific so the possibility of false positives can be significant. Working with an airline proactively can be helpful in reducing the risk for a false claim.
