Description

Although many patients with pheochromocytoma share certain signs and symptoms, there is a wide range of manifestations including none at all. The signs and symptoms depend on which catecholamines are released and in what quantities, as well as findings related to the tumor itself.


 

More common findings:

(1) hypertension, sustained or paroxysmal

(2) palpitations and/or tachycardia

(3) diaphoresis (sweating)

(4) pallor

(5) skin flushing

(6) headache

(7) anxiety, nervousness or panic attacks

(8) tremor

(9) weakness or fatigue

 

Less common findings

(1) cardiac arrhythmias

(2) chest or abdominal pain

(3) hypotension, postural or shock

(4) bradycardia

(5) weight loss

(6) constipation

(7) diarrhea

(8) tachypnea

(9) visual disturbances

(10) paresthesias

(11) dizziness

(12) nausea and vomiting

(13) tumor-related pain

(14) unexplained multi-organ failure

(15) heart failure

(16) seizures or encephalopathy

 

Laboratory findings:

(1) hyperglycemia
