Udall and Ellestad studied the significance of ventricular premature contractions (VPCs) in patients undergoing treadmill stress testing. The authors are from Long Beach Memorial Hospital Medical Center and the University of California at Irvine.
Patient selection: treadmill stress testing
Outcome: future coronary events (myocardial infarction, angina, cardiac death)
Parameters during the stress testing:
(1) ventricular premature contractions
(2) ischemic ST changes (1 mm elevation or depression of the ST segment lasting >=80 milliseconds from the J point)
