Pareek et al reported the SIFK score for predicting the risk of arthroplasty on a patient with subchondral insufficiency fracture of the knee (SIFK). The authors are from the Mayo Clinic.
Subchondral insufficiency fractures of the knee was previously known as spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK). This is associated with small fractures of subchondral bone assoicated with mechanical overload in an older patient.
Parameters:
(1) Kellgren-Lawrence Grade, from 1 to 4
(2) SIFK on medial femoral condyle (MFC)
(3) lateral meniscus root tear
(4) lateral meniscus extrusion
(5) medial meniscus extrusion
