The Shrunken Pore Syndrome refers to shrinking of glomerular pores.
The condition is recognized when the eGFR determine by cystatin C or other low molecular weight protein is <= 60% of the eGFR determined by creatinine.
The shrunken pore syndrome may occur:
(1) during late pregnancy or with pre-eclampsia
(2) idiopathic in normal population
Using the CKD-EPI equations for serum creatinine and serum cystatin-C may help reduce variability.
