Description

A male with amyloidosis may develop sexual dysfunction by a number of different mechanisms.


 

Factors associated with sexual dysfunction in a male with amyloidosis:

(1) peripheral neuropathy

(2) autonomic neuropathy

(3) advanced heart disease

(4) renal failure

(5) hypogonadism with elevated gonadotropins (from testicular involvement)

(6) depression and/or anxiety

 

Types of sexual dysfunction:

(1) decreased libido

(2) erectile dysfunction

(3) impaired ejaculation
