Description

Schild et al reported equations for predicting fetal weight that are sex specific. The authors are from University Hospital Bonn.

Patient selection: single fetus, gestational age > 25 weeks, with ultrasonography measured <= 8 days of delivery

Parameters:

(1) sex of the fetus

(2) biparietal diameter in cm (BPD)

(3) femur length in cm (FL)

(4) abdominal circumference in cm (AC)

(5) head circumference in cm (HC)

estimated fetal weight for a female fetus in grams =

= (1.143 * ((BPD)^3)) + (1159.878 * SQRT(AC)) + (10.079 * ((FL)^3)) - (81.277 * ((FL)^2)) - 4035.275

estimated fetal weight for a male fetus in grams =

= (1913.853 * LOG10(BPD)) + (0.01323 * ((HC)^3)) + (55.532 * ((AC)^2)) - (13602.664 * SQRT(AC)) - (0.721 * ((AC)^3)) + (2.31 * ((FL)^3)) + 43576.579
