Senile Gluteal Dermatosis (SGD) is a benign, nonbullous skin disorder affecting adults.
Mechanism: possibly pressure induced
Clinical features:
(1) hyperkeratotic lichenified skin
(2) superior part and both sides of the anal cleft
(3) occurrence in sedentary and elderly patients
(4) no or mild symptoms
(5) no other explanation
Risk factors:
(1) longer duration of a sedentary lifestyle
(2) diabetes mellitus
(3) low lean body mass
(4) sleeping on a Korean-style mattress
Histologic features:
(1) hyperkeratosis
(2) acanthosis
(3) follicular plugging
(4) mild increase in small blood vessels
(5) mild lymphohistiocytic inflammation
