Most victims are young adults although this may change with time. Males tend to show greater risk-taking behavior.
Cause of death:
(1) fall from height
(2) contact with high-voltage electricity (electrocution)
(3) animal attack
(4) drowning
(5) struck-by injury
The occurrence in front of witnesses or review of the recorded images can help establish an accidental cause of death.
Differential diagnosis:
(1) selfie-recording of suicide
(2) accident due to distraction while non-selfie use of a mobile device
