Seiche is a wave caused by a fluctuation in water levels in an enclosed body of water, similar to sloshing water in a bathtub.
Seiche is French for "to sway back and forth" (also cuttlefish or squid)
Features:
(1) an enclosed or semi-enclosed body of water (lake, bay, reservoir, etc)
(2) oscillating waves that go back and forth
(3) secondary to seismic or atmospheric disturbance
If the waves combine then a large standing wave can be generated.
