Description

Driesing et al reported the SDASH score for evaluating a patient after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). The authors are from Charite Universitatsmedizin Berlin and Universitatsklinikum Heidelberg in Germany.

SDASH stands for shunt dependency in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Patient selection: aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage

Parameters:

(1) presence of acute hydrocephalus

(2) BNI score of Wilson et al (from 1 to 5)

(3) Hunt & Hess grade from I to V

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 4

• The higher the score the greater the risk of shunt dependency.
