Screening Assessment of the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF)

Description

The International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) has developed a number of instructional guides for preventing and diagnosing foot problems in patients with diabetes mellitus. They have developed a simple screening tool that can be used at every clinical encounter.


 

Screening questions to detect risk for foot complications in diabetes: 13

 

Each item is answered "yes" or "no".

 

The presence of 1 or more of the above means that a diabetic patient is at risk for a foot complication.

 

The risk is further increased if no action or referral is taken by the examiner.
