These can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management postoperatively. Predictors for logistic regression model:
(1) urgency of procedure (OR 1.7 for emergency)
(2) prophylactic antibiotics given > 2 hours before incision (OR 1.6)
(3) open surgery (OR 3.7)
(4) high-risk procedure (OR 3.5; colorectal or small bowel procedure)
(5) operative time > 2 hours (OR 2.6)
While the beta-coefficients for the parameters can be derived from the odds ratios, the constant factor was not provided.
