Description

Margenthaler et al reported risk scores for complications following surgery for small bowel obstruction (SBO). One score predicts 30-day risk of morbidity. The authors are from Washington University, Yale University, St. Louis VA Medical Center, University of Colorado, Denver VA Medical Center, Harvard University and Brockton West Roxbury VA Medical Center.

(4) preoperative white blood cell count per microliter

(5) preoperative functional status

(6) surgery type

(7) preoperative serum creatinine in mg/dL

(8) wound classification

(9) ASA class
