Description

Hua et al reported scores for prediction of coronary artery lesions (CAL) in patients with Kawasaki Disease. The authors are from Children's Hospital Zhejiang University in Hangzhou.

Patient selection: pediatric patient with Kawasaki disease, maximum age 47 months

Parameters:

(1) age of the patient in years

(2) sex

(3) total fever duration

(4) IVIG resistance

(5) serum albumin in g/L

(6) percent monocytes in peripheral differential count

(7) delayed diagnosis (IVIG started after 10 days)

total score for all patients =

= SUM(points for 5 parameters assigned)

total score for a patient LTE 6 months old =

= SUM(points for all 3 assigned parameters)

Interpretation:

minimum scores: 0

maximum score for all patients: 5

maximum score for patient LTE 6 months: 5

The cutoff for the patient LTE 6 months was >= 3.

Performance:

The area under the ROC curve for a patient LTE 6 months old is 0.73. The sensitivity at ctoff was 0.65 and specificity 0.81.

The area under the ROC curve for all patients was 0.63. At a cutoff of >=2 the sensitivity was 0.83 and specificity 0.34.
