Yoon et al reported a modification of the LRINEC score that uses findings seen on MRI of the affected site. This can aid in the distinguishing of necrotizing from non-necrotizing fasciitis. The authors are from University of Ulsan and Seoul National University in South Korea.
Parameters:
(1) thickening of intermuscular deep fascia in mm on MRI
(2) number of compartments involved on MRI
(3) LRINEC score, from 0 to 13
