Description

Tanaka et al developed a score for grading the corneal changes in a patient with allergic conjunctivitis. The authors are from Tokyo Dental College in Chiba.

Corneal Changes

Score

none (normal, clear cornea)

0

superficial punctate keratitis (SPK) involving < 50% of cornea

1

superficial punctate keratitis (SPK) involving >= 50% of cornea

2

erosion and/or defect in the corneal epithelium

3

corneal ulcer and/or plaque

4

 

The higher the score the more severe the corneal damage.
