Description

Rana et al developed a score for predicting Survival Outcomes Following Liver Transplantation (SOFT). This can help to determine how long the patient is likely to survive following surgery. The authors are from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

Patient selection: liver transplant

Outcome: post-transplant survival

Parameters:

(1) P-SOFT (see previous)

(2) age of donor

(3) cause of donor death

(4) donor creatinine

(5) cold ischemia time in hours

(6) national allocation

(7) portal bleeding within 48 hours pretransplant

Interpretation:

• minimum score: -5

• maximum score: 71

• The higher the score the greater the risk.

• A negative score would probably indicate a very low risk group.
