Description

Gonzalez-Vicent et al developed a simple risk score for predicting the likelihood of PICU admission for a pediatric patient treated with a hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). This can help identify a patient who may require closer monitoring. The authors are from Nino Jesus Children's Hospital in Madrid, Spain.

Parameters:

(1) gender of the patient

(2) type of stem cell transplant

(3) engraftment syndrome

(4) graft vs host disease

(5) disease status at time of transplant

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 6

• The higher the score the greater the risk of PICU admission.
